Once you telnet to Iron Rose you need to choose a log in name, or handle. Please choose carefully because this is the name by which you will be known. Also, though Iron Rose is an adult, mature theme talker, we do not allow graphic handles for names. Your name may be up to fifteen characters long, and only letters are allowed in names.

When you first log on, there are a few things which will establish your account.  These items tell everyone a bit about yourself and help our system manage your account. Remember, all commands begin with a dot (.) and in the following examples, please exclude the angle brackets:

  1. Set a description.
    This can be up to thirty characters long and must be longer than one character. This will follow your name on the "currently logged in" user list. One example is "Bambi - smiles." Only Iron Rose employees may reference Iron Rose or IR in their descriptions. To set a description, type .set desc <your choice.> If you do not set a description, your user name will be purged from the system.
    example: .set desc - smiles.
  2. Set a gender.
    Type .set gender <gender> Gender can be up to twenty characters long, and must be longer than one character.  Iron Rose requires your biological gender, although we welcome our transgendered community with open arms.
    example: .set gender Male
  3. Set a system gender.
    This assigns a personal pronoun to you.   To set a system gender, type .set sysgender <M> or <F.>
    example: .set sysgender M
  4. View the Rules with .show rules
    Iron Rose is very serious about the mature theme of the talker.     There are some basic rules all users follow. If you choose not to follow these rules, it could result in an arrest (minimum 48 hours), restriction, or ban of your site from the system. If you find your site is restricted and would like to request a username, you can email sales@iron-rose.com with a list of 3 names, in order of preference, for consideration.
  5. View the schedule with .show schedule
    Iron Rose is a serious BDSM talker devoted to education and information. We frequently have online discussion groups on various BDSM topics. To see a list of scheduled topics and dates, type .show schedule. This schedule is updated often.
  6. Look at select help text.
    We recommend that you read .help show, .help set, and .help mail.
  7. Explore the rooms.
     Iron Rose is a virtual world made up of different themed rooms written by our members. To see what rooms exist, type .rooms. To see a list of who has written the existing rooms, type .show credits. If you have a room idea, feel free to email sales@iron-rose.com. Room description limit is 12 lines of 80 characters.
  8. Help!
    If at any point you need help, you can type .dm to see the dungeon masters currently available. Just as in real life, virtual dungeon masters are here to assist. To send a private message to a dungeon master, or any other member, type .t <name> <message.>
  9. REALLY HELP!
    In an emergency type .SOS <message>

Telnet Packages that work well with Iron Rose include: CRT, NCSA Telnet (for the Mac), NetTerm, NiftyTelnet, SimpleMU, TinyFugue (version 3.0 and higher), Windows Standard Telnet (Start, Run, type telnet), WinWorld, ZMud. If you've found another that works well, please tell us!  GMud does NOT work with Iron Rose.
